Children are starting activities younger and younger these days. What was once an activity taught only to a handful of adults 50+ years ago, is now a highly sought after activity for students of all ages.
Our Tiny Tigers program was developed in order to respond to the community's desire for a martial arts skills class for very young children. We teach a simple Soo Bahk Do technical curriculum, such that by the time the child turns 6 (or sometimes even before), that they will be well-prepared to join the youth porgram seamlessly and with confidence.
These classes all include various activities and games that teach various essential learning skills, such as direction-following, awareness, focus, and basic personal safety for children.
Soo Bahk Do teaches children the mental and physical concepts of self-defense, just as in our other programs. But our youth program is also highly spoken of in the community for our work in improving the self-discipline, focus, and confidence of growing children.
We hold high standards for all of our members, regardless of age. Youth students study the exact same material as the teens and adults, though the information is presented in a child-appropriate manner. Children see this atmosphere of excellence and effort, and they know that they will be expected to rise to it. At our school, they will have the support they need in order to be comfortable attempting to learn new skills.
All of our classes have a primary focus on building self-defense capability, both in terms of the learning and refinement of physical skills, as well as the development of the frame of mind to be able to effectively avoid, diffuse, or face conflict if necessary.
Adults can expect to experience stress relief and mental challenge, Teenagers gain confidence from their positive accomplishments and a supportive peer community. Of course, all students can improve their overall fitness level by increasing flexibilitiy, endurance, strength, and agility.
There is no upper age limit for this program. If modifications of any activities are necessary due to physical limitations, they will be made without question or judgment.
